Made in Grand Rapids by the Imperial Furniture Company, whose founder claimed to have invented the coffee table after lowering the legs on a table to help his wife prepare for a party. Imperial was also the first American factory to produce Duncan Phyfe reproductions, which makes this piece a small piece of that history.
Mahogany, with twin carved lyre pedestals joined by a turned stretcher, splayed legs, and brass claw feet. The top has a raised lip along the long edges. Model 2533 V, the V being Imperial's traditional antique mahogany stain, mixed to imitate the finish on 18th century English furniture.
Dimensions:
Overall: 40"W × 21"D × 17"H
Base: 32 3/4"W × 21"D
Condition: Functional but does have scratches and water stains. It has wood chipped off on a section of the tabletop lip. It is missing 3 of its 4 brass feet.
A note on vintage wear: every piece in this shop carries the marks of the life it’s already lived. Small imperfections are part of the story.
More than anything, I want you to love the pieces in your home. If a piece doesn’t feel right, simply reach out within the 24-hour in-home trial period to arrange a return.
